MISTAKEN INFORMATION FROM CFIM IN SUJET OF THE TRAVERSIER
Cap-aux-Meules, June 17, 2019 - CTMA wants to correct some of the erroneous information released by journalist Hélène Fauteux on CFIM this morning. While it specifies that "... the new ferry would have the same capacity as the Madeleine, with 1,500 passengers," CTMA confirms that the capacity of the Madeleine vessel is 755 passengers. As for the number of cars, the Madeleine can carry 190 cars, while CFIM reports "326 currently". With respect to the future vessel, CTMA has not had a recent discussion with the federal government on this issue and is not currently part of the replacement process. "If the government wishes, we will share our recommendations regarding the ferry service and the characteristics of the future ship that will meet the needs of the Madelinots," said General Manager Emmanuel Aucoin.
